I have a Smith and Wesson MP15 with only the carbine length M-Lok handguard. I really like the Streamlight HL-X. The only issue is that it is a fairly large light. It's 5.43 inches long and the head is fairly large. I tried a 45 degree M-Lok mount, but you cannot reach the tail switch and the pressure pad needs a 9 slot pic rail. I just don't have the room for that. That mount and other mounts also placed the head of the light in my red dot, so I lost part of my field of view.
I found the sister product to this mount (the normal length version) it looked like it would work for say a surefire, but my guess was HL-X would be too long. This one is 0.9" longer. Turns out to be perfect! The tail switch is right at my thumb for easy access. The light throws with no shadow and it's not in my optic at all. The mount does not interfere with my grip.
I ordered the bundle (this and the HL-X) that saved me a lot. You can find the HL-X on Amazon, which I do order from a lot, but sometimes you get a knockoff, not the real one. With the bundle it was cheaper than ordering off Amazon and this is the real HL-X. The mount is top notch. Perfectly machined, all the parts are perfect fit and the light mounts straight to the surefire mount securely. Looks like it came with the rifle. I have not been to the range yet, but based on the fit and finish of this one, I expect to be using it for a long time to come.
